New Israeli defense contracts for Elbit Systems C4i services

Elbit Systems Ltd reports that it is to supply communications and C4I systems to Israel's military under new Ministry of Defense contracts.

The contracts carry a combined value of about $117 million. Most of them will be performed over a six-year period, the company said.

C4I refers to command, control, communications, computers and intelligence.

"The new contracts attest to the customer's satisfaction from our systems' past performance," said Bezhalel (Butzi) Machlis, president and chief executive of Elbit Systems. "Being awarded contracts for next generation DAP and communications systems, based on advanced command-and-control and communications capabilities, further strengthens our position as world leaders in this field."

Elbit said its work under the contracts will involve development of an army program that will computerize all operations in Israel's land forces, connecting all field and command echelons into a central data transfer network.

The company will also develop, upgrade and supply communications systems and wide band radio systems and provide logistic support and maintenance for them.
