An unidentified country in Central Asia has contracted Harris Corporation for tactical radios for its military forces.
The order is worth $18 million. The number of radios and their delivery schedule were not disclosed.
Harris Corporation said the order is for the company's Falcon III RF-7800H high-frequency manpack radios and RF-7850M multiband handheld radios.
The RF-7800H is the first high-frequency manpack radio with high-speed wideband data capabilities, allowing transmission of large data files over beyond line-of-sight links.
The RF-7850M supports wideband and narrowband networking waveforms, giving forward deployed troops enhanced communications capabilities.
"Harris radios deliver highly reliable and secure communications for critical missions on the battlefield," said Brendan O'Connell, president, international business, Harris RF Communications. "Both the RF-7800H and the RF-7850M radio systems are crucial for delivering secure, up-to-the-minute situational awareness and effective command and control."
Harris' next-generation Falcon III radios support the U.S. military's Joint Tactical Radio System requirements and worldwide network-centric operations.
