Poland approves revised US missile shield agreementWarsaw (AFP) March 2, 2010 Poland on Tuesday agreed to a new version of a deal on stationing an American missile shield, a government statement said, adding it would be aimed essentially at potential threats from Iran. Jerusalem (AFP) Feb 21, 2010A new drone that can remain airborne for more than 24 hours and reach as far as Iran was added Sunday to the Israeli air force's arsenal, the military said. Ithaca NY (SPX) Feb 22, 2010William E. Gordon, founder of the Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico, died Feb. 16 at his home in Ithaca. He was 92. Gordon was the Walter R. Missing Ice Arches Contributed to 2007 Arctic Ice LossPasadena CA (JPL) Feb 19, 2010 In 2007, the Arctic lost a massive amount of thick, multiyear sea ice, contributing to that year's record-low extent of Arctic sea ice. A new NASA-led study has found that the record loss that year was due in part to the absence of "ice arches," naturally-forming, curved ice structures that span the openings between two land points.
